In the past few years, we have seen a definite need
for a preacher school in the area in which we work. We have partnered with
Emmanuel Offor, a native Nigerian Christian, to build a preacher school and
technical school in Abakaliki, Nigeria. This school is open now and training
men to preach the Gospel.
We are building two schools: a preacher school
and a technical school. The preacher school will be a two year school that
will train Nigerian Christians to preach the Gospel in their Nigerian
context.
The preacher school is an extension school of the Bear
Valley Bible Institute of Denver, CO. This brotherhood school has had
a long history of training men to preach. Bear Valley will be
providing the staff, curriculum, and other things necessary for the school
to function.
The preacher school will also be having three degree tracks.
First, the school will offer a Certificate of Completion.
Second, the school will offer a Bachelor's degree from an American
institution. Both of these programs will be located in the
main classroom building and will last two years. Thirdly, the school
will offer a Master's degree program which will be beneficial to the
work there in Nigeria. All of these degree tracks do not charge
tuition to the student.
The technical school that will be located
on the same campus. While the technical school will focus on job skill type
learning, it will be of great value to the overall scheme of the school and
the Nigeria work. For example:
The technical school will help graduates of the preacher
school to learn a job skill/trade to be able to support themselves and their
family in the field. There are so many congregations too small to support
their preachers and this will allow native preachers to work with small
congregations to help them grow.
The technical school will draw area residents into the
program of study and place them in close contact with Gospel preachers. The
area of
the school has a large Muslim population. Bringing Muslim, pagan,
and denominational Christians together, we will place them on the same
campus with Gospel preachers.
The technical school will line up jobs for training that
will support both schools so that the preacher school will need
minimal American support.
Both of these schools hold great promise to the work in
Nigeria. We believe the Lord is truly opening a great door for evangelism
through this work and these schools.
We are looking for congregations and/or individuals to
support this work and help build these schools. There are many ways and
needs that need to be met. Please note that all support goes directly
into the work and into whatever area of work you desire. There is no
overhead and no paid staff. Any and all money is sent directly into the
country through trusted Nigerians to do what the money is intended for.
